I just want to inform you of the number of residential burglaries happening in your areas. Figures throughout the year are sporadic with there being more burglaries in the months April, May, June and August compared to last year. Below are maps with markers which provide rough locations for these burglaries (between 01/01/24 – 26/11/24) .
I have also attached a couple posters with safeguarding advice should you wish to share these.
We have previously seen an increase in burglaries around this time of year as the days get darker earlier and criminals take advantage of people purchasing Christmas presents. There is some great advice that can be found on the Kent Police website at Crime prevention advice | Kent Police to help prevent becoming the victim of crime.
It is worth investing in timer plugs to allow internal lights to come on if you are not home, external security lights, CCTV or a video doorbell. If you are going to be away over the Christmas period, it is sensible to make neighbours aware so they can keep an eye on your property. After Christmas, packaging from expensive items left outside the front of properties for the rubbish collection can advertise items to potential burglars so try to break up packaging if possible or hide it amongst other items.
Faraday bags are another worthwhile purchase to protect car keys and prevent keyless vehicle thefts and for those with motorbikes or bicycles using a chain attached to a ground anchor or lock will help deter potential thieves.
